The Tap Factor - Miami - the Joffrey Ballet

"I love to teach people how easy it can be to get others quickly learning how to tap dance. Quite like a board game, there are only a few rules to follow in order to get started. The Tap Factor is all about sharing these rules with others and bringing more people into the game.

"A couple summers ago, I was invited to teach tap a the Joffrey School of Ballet's Summer Intensive in Miami, FL. Artistic Director, Jo Matos wished to have a tap program that focused on inclusion. It was my goal to make a teacher out of each of the students, in that they would be able to teach what they had learned to a group on non-tap dancers..."

"...At the end of the week-long session, participating students co-facilitated a group activity with the Black Male College Explorers at Florida Memorial University - also on a summer retreat at the University. All worked together and then divided into small groups in order for the team leaders from the Joffrey Summer Intensive to lead tap dance tutorials. No tap shoes were necessary."
